We know from the scriptures that God is love (1 John 4:8) and that He is one with His Word (John 1:1). We also know that faith is borne out of God’s Word. It therefore goes without saying that there is an undeniable link between love and faith, a very vital one at that. To be full of faith is to be full of God’s Word, meditating and acting on the word. It is however impossible to act on God’s Word without loving Him just as it is also impossible to love God without loving people. The bible says it is a lie if we say we love God who we do not see and do not love our brother that we see. God’s commandment to us as believers is love. We love Him because He first loved us, and our love for God is expressed by doing His Word (1 John 5:3). To then benefit from God’s Word to get results in faith for our needs in health, finances, ministry and more, we must show love to everyone, not just showing it but truly loving them through the help of the Holy Spirit.
The presence of the Spirit of God in us brings about the manifestation of what we declare in faith but it is our walking in love that moves the Spirit. We grieve the Holy Spirit when we do not walk in love and as such, it becomes a great challenge to make the power present in the word of God available to influence our situations. It is God’s love for humanity that made Him give His son to die for our sins just as it is out of the abundance of that love for people that every miracle work by Jesus Christ and the Apostles was done. Where there is faith and love is present, there are bound to be miracles. The salvation of the human spirit which is the greatest miracle is an expression of God’s love, as well as every benefit that comes with the salvation package, be it healing, wholeness, prosperity, peace and much more.
As believers, we must continue to walk in love, responding in love to all people irrespective of their actions towards us. In doing this, we make our shield of faith (Eph. 6:16) effective and accomplish great results through the Holy Spirit.
