Dealing With Spiritual Horns – Opening Session With Pastor Poju

Pastor Poju WAFBEC 2022 Day 1

In his opening session at this year’s West Africa Faith Believers Convention, the convener Pastor Poju Oyemade began by reading from his opening text Zechariah 1:8 – 2:6.

He established that the hindrance to the prophecy and promise of God to show mercy to Judah is the four horns identified by prophet Zechariah. The horn, he explained, is the voice speaking into or over the life of a person. It’s the conversations or chatter over your affairs. He gave the example of the scenario of making a mistake with one client and the client begins to spread the news. That is real warfare, he noted.

Reading further from Daniel 7:8-11, 20-22, 24-26, he identified three things:

  1. The ancient of days sat
  2. Books were opened
  3. Judgement was given

There’s a judgment that is written – in the Word – for every situation. To find that judgment, the ancient of days has to sit over that matter, and for Him to sit, crowns must be cast down in worship at His feet. Rev 4:10

“Confession without prayer won’t produce the desired result,” he preached. “You will need fresh strength to confront the horns speaking against you. Christians often fall because they overestimate their own strength.” Like Peter, they are too confident of themselves and think they can handle what’s coming. Matt 26:31-35, I Cor 10:12 (The Living Bible) They forgot that even Jesus had to cry and make supplications to God in the days of his flesh. (Heb 5:7-9)

The starting point to getting that fresh strength is to cast down your crown in worship. That’s the only way to get the judgment of God on the matter. In his exact words, “for everything you have been believing God for, you have to get a fresh judgment”. To get that word from God, you have to be still for a while, wait on God and separate yourself from people. I Sam 9:27, Lev 24:11-12

He read from Revelation chapter 5 verse 1 all through to chapter 6 verse 2 and showed that you can only reign in a situation when the book is opened. According to that scripture, the seals were opened as they worshipped and they were invited to ‘see’. And so you must worship until you see the judgment written concerning your situation.

There’s a judgment that is written – in the Word – for every situation. To find that judgment, the ancient of days has to sit over that matter, and for Him to sit, crowns must be cast down in worship at His feet.

He proceeded to read from Revelation 8:5-8 and pointed out that when the time of manifestation came, the angels with trumpets showed up. And so, to enter into the manifestation of what you see, you have to blow the trumpet. In other words, you have to declare the prophetic word received back to the situation. I Cor 15:50-52 It’s when you start declaring the words you have received to the atmosphere that angels are activated.

He rounded off by pointing out that for the trumpet to sound the way it should, you have to be purged by fire, and that fire is the fire of trials and affliction that usually follow the word received. Matt 3:11-12, 2 Cor 4:4-8, Mark 9:49-50. Every time you go through the fire, there’s something inside you God wants to remove. And when that fire starts to burn your flesh, you must maintain peace in your heart towards men and not abhor offence. Heb 13:10
