Day 7: Session 1 – Rev Scott Webb

Reverend Scott Webb made his first appearance at WAFBEC 2015 by speaking on The Believer’s Authority.

Ephesians 1:18-23 and Ephesians 2:1,

Reverend Scott Webb commenced his teaching by saying the reason God wants us to pray the Ephesian 1 prayer is because He wants us know something about our position in Christ and the authority we have in Him. Rev Webb clearly stated that every believer has authority in Christ and we are to learn what this meant and how to operate in it.

Using the life of Jesus (Luke 10:16, Mathew 8:16) he showed how believers are to exercise authority over demonic forces by speaking the Word of God. Based on Luke 10:16, Rev. Scot said anytime we speak  the Word of God in the name of Jesus, it is the same as if Jesus said it because we are under His authority.

Reverend Scott also taught that we must learn the mind or attitude that was in Christ and let it be in us (Phillipians 2:5-11), furthermore we have to empty ourselves of our past experiences, culture and thought pattern and take up a new mind in Christ.

He gave an illustration that clearly showed that we are actually under the authority of Christ and we are to do what we are told; reaffirming the fact that anytime we speak the Word, it is Jesus Christ that is actually speaking and reaching out through us to the world. He also added that we are to be specific and learn to communicate the authority we have in Christ

In conclusion, he admonished that believers should always remember that power flows from the Holy spirit and we are under His authority. We don’t need any feeling to be able to exercise the authority we have been given, all we need to do is to keep declaring what God says.
