Day 7: Session 1 – Rev Scott Webb

Reverend Scott Webb in his second day of teaching at WAFBEC 2015 taught on the topic, The Believer’s Authority.

Ephesians 1:18-23 and Ephesians 2:1

Quoting from the prayers that Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesians church, Reverend Scot Web commenced his teaching by pointing out the reason God wants His children to pray them was because He wants them to know something about their position in Christ and the authority they have in Him. He clearly stated that every believer has authority in Christ and is supposed to learn what this meant and how to operate in it.

Using the life of Jesus (Luke 10:16, Mathew 8:16) Rev Scott pointed out how believers are to exercise authority over demonic forces by speaking the Word of God. Using Luke 10:16, he taught that anytime God’s children speak the Word of God in the name of Jesus, it is exactly the same as if Jesus said it because they are under His authority.

Rev Webb also taught that believers must learn to have the mind or attitude that was in Christ be in them (Philippians 2:5-11). Christians are to empty themselves of past experiences, culture and thought patterns and take up a new mind in Christ. Giving a vivid demonstration he clearly showed that believers are actually under the Authority of Christ and are to do what Jesus said. So anytime God’s children speak the Word, it is actually Jesus Christ speaking and reaching out through them to the world.

As a Christian, God has vested His authority inside each one, however it is not over other men but an authority in the spirit. It is also important to know that God’s children must establish His authority in their lives with words. Authority is always released in action and words are part of it. Other people cannot establish this for anyone, it must be done individually…by each person!

He also added that we are to be specific and learn to clearly communicate the authority we have in Christ.

Luke 11:14-20, 4, Mark 5, John 11, Proverbs 31:8-9

The Word is God’s finger and by pointing it you put the devil to flight! When God’s children speak what God says i.e. the Word of God…the devil hears God.

By feeding on the Word the Holy Spirit will bring things to your remembrance as needed. It doesn’t matter what the devil’s doing, God has given you the necessary authority in your life. What has Jesus told you to do? When the pressure’s on, stand on the authority that God has given you. By acting on the Word of God, you act in divine authority.
In conclusions, he admonished us to always remember that it is from the Holy Spirit that power flows and we are under His authority. We don’t need any feeling to be able to exercise the authority we have been given, all we need to do is to keep declaring what God says.
