Day 5: Session 6 – Pastor Kola Ewuosho

On day five of WAFBEC 2015 during his second session at the convention, Pastor Kola Ewuosho started  by summarising his previous message on laying the right foundation in order to live victoriously as a Christian. He re-emphasized the fact that the goal of the believer’s faith is to be conformed into the image of Jesus Christ both in character and power.

Drawing from 2Timothy 2:1-6 he began to highlight the three qualities a Christian must arm himself with in order to build a strong Christian character:

Firstly, a Christian must be battle ready as a soldier and make up his mind to engage the battle of his life. Pastor Ewuosho explained to the congregation that the Christian engages in two dimensions of warfare i.e. the personal and cosmic. He encouraged everyone present to make up their mind and prepare to go through hardship, knowing that it is temporal and victory is assured.

Secondly a Christian must learn to be disciplined in prayer, bible study and their thought life exactly the same way an athlete masters his skills through continuous exercise. We must be careful of what we allow into our system, and be wary of entertainment because, “anything that entertains you enters into you”, he said. He admonished us to be disciplined until faith becomes a lifestyle.

Finally, he taught on patience and learning to sow like a farmer who patiently waits for the harvest. Pastor Kola warned that there will be years of obscurity, when in spite of diligent service the individual may go unnoticed without being celebrated. He encouraged people not to be discouraged during this season because it is a season of planting. In conclusion he assured the congregation that God will openly reward in the time of harvest.
