Day 4: Session 4 – Pastor Yinka Ojo

Session 4

Pastor Yinka Ojo was the second speaker at the school of the spirit at the third edition of WAFBEC. With his sermon titled Fantastic Adventure in Trusting Him (F.A.I.T.H.) he shared using humour, as well as down-to-earth stories of his personal life.

Heb.11:1-6.

Faith is substance; it is the foundation upon which everything that concerns our lives is built.

According to the man of God, the subject of faith is so critical to the believer’s walk with God, that it must be the first thing to be studied after salvation. This is important because the world awaits the manifestation of the sons of God Rom.8:19, and this will only happen when believers that have been taught the subject of faith, apply it to daily living.

We need to use our faith as a tool for overcoming all life challenges, so that we may always have a story to tell. Pastor Ojo shared some of his experiences as a teenager growing up in an orthodox Christian home, as a student in the University, and in life and ministry. By sharing some of his personal stories it demonstrates that everyday occurrences are opportunities to boast of our New Creation status, and draw men to our God.

Firstly, our knowledge of the impact of the words we speak must cause us to check the lyrics of the songs we sing – even though the music is melodious – that we may watch the words that come out of our mouth.

Faith will work in every area of life to which it is applied, even in our quest to live in holiness and purity. It works when we take immediate action to flee fornication, knowing we already have the power and authority to deal decisively with the situation, by the words we speak and our action.

Heaven permits whatever man permits.

When faced with challenging situations, believers need not ask God, or seek His face, to know what He will do for us. Rather, we must be bold to refuse to permit, even reject, any occurrence or manifestation around us that is against God’s will.

The enemy only has the power we have handed over to him. If witches fly in our villages, it is because we allowed it and did not cancel illegal flights.

Believers must appreciate that the realm of the Spirit is loaded with the things that we ‘believe’ from God. We appropriate them when we spend our faith as currency, by the words we speak, commanding these things to come to us. We must walk by faith, not by sight, never threatened in any way by the state of our wallets or bank accounts.

Our faith is activated by corresponding action. How do we respond to God’s Word? Believe it, speak it and act on it, having confident assurance that, just as water is evidence of ice, faith is evidence that we have what we desire, according to God’s will.

We must arise to activate our faith, so that we can enjoy the victory for which Christ died and was resurrected to secure for us. Then we must rejoice, in faith, thanking God for what we expect

Faith is unwavering trust in God based on His Word alone.

Rather than speak negatively about the situations around us that seem overwhelming, believers must take control, and command them to conform to God’s will.
