Day 4 Afternoon Pastor Nkechi Ene – Discerning The Sounds Part 2

Pastor Nkechi Ene started by doing a recap of her previous teaching while she read from the major text used in the message (1 Corinthians 14:6-12).

She went on to reveal that God is willing to deepen his relationship with you. Continuing her previous thought, the sixth thing to know is that an inability to discern the sounds causes a breakdown in communication between you and God. In other words, an existing relationship is the basis for discerning these life giving sounds.

Even though God might be communicating clear instructions to you, a deafness in your hearing wouldn’t let you discern the sound of his voice. As a result of this deafness, a lot of Christians pray amiss because they don’t even know what God is saying. Sadly, many ministers too are not helping as they lead their congregation into error by only making noise rather than communicating sounds from God.

The seventh point was that both the source of the sound and the receiver have roles to play, citing 1 Corinthians 14:9. She then differentiated between the roles of the source and those of the receiver of the sound. On one hand, the Source of the sound (God) is responsible for targeting the sounds at the appropriate/intended receiver, on the other hand, the receiver (you, the believer) is charged with a two fold responsibility.

Your first role as the receiver is to make sure that you are free from obstructions that can prevent you from hearing sounds from God. Some of them include certain sentiments and prejudices you might have. Your second responsibility is to tune in to the frequency of the expected sounds.

The woman of God added that the purpose of God is fulfilled in the relevance of his word, and his words bring light -which means ‘phonĂ©’ in Greek – (John 1:5). She also emphasized that light does not fight darkness. It just shines and in response, darkness disappears because darkness cannot comprehend light.

She cleared the erroneous thinking among many Christians that God wants to be shrouded in mystery. With inferences from Colossians 1:25-26 and 1 Corinthians 2:7-10, God wants you to know he is not hiding anything from you. She stressed that it is important that you hear God for yourself, by yourself because that is his plan. He has revelations for you and he wants you to know them.

In closing with the eighth point a Christian should know, every single sound that God sends to us has one purpose – to prompt us to action.” He sends these promptings through the Holy Spirit.
