Day 2: Session 5 – Pastor Inyang Okutinyang

The last speaker for the school of the Spirit was Pastor Inyang Okutinyang and his sermon was titled Faith for Today.

John 4:46-50

Pastor Okutinyang reminded everyone that the things of God are simple and all God simply requires of us is to believe!  The scripture reading was an account of the first healing miracle of Jesus. The noble man had never seen Jesus heal but had heard certain things of the Lord upon which he had a choice to believe or not.

A similar account is found in Matthew 9 of blind men who went to Jesus asking for mercy. It is recorded that Jesus asked them whether they believed if He was able to do what they requested. This is the simplicity of God’s requirement of us… to believe!

In John 4:50, we find the response of Jesus to the noble man, ‘go thy way thy son liveth’. The Bible records that the man believed Jesus and went his way. Shortly afterwards he was told that his son lived.

On his way home, the Devil must have fed him thoughts of fear, but the man must have stood his ground believing what the Lord had said to him.

It’s instructive to note that our problems, no matter how big, are nothing before God and He is never late at solving them. As a matter of fact Jesus has secured the victory long before the foundation of the earth. Therefore, Let us magnify the Lord, believing that He is well above our issues and His Word will come to pass.

Romans 10: 6-8

Pastor Okutinyang stressed that the Word in your mouth will do what you desire Jesus to do in your life. Learn to place emphasis where the Word and Jesus put it. The way to realise the victory is doing what God said. Jesus plays a part but so does the believer, in order for the miracle to take place.
