Day 2: Session 1 – Pastor Trina Hankins

The first session of the second day of WAFBEC 2015 was handled by Pastor Trina Hankins and the title of her message was Taking the Word of God like Medicine.

Revelation 3:20, Jeremiah 15:16

Referring to the scripture from the book of Revelation, Pastor Trina said that Jesus was not just knocking at the door but He has come ready to dine with you and also prepared a table. At this banquet with Jesus there is healing; which we partake of daily by speaking His promises of health. Healing is the children’s bread and the Word of God is called the bread of life and every time we feed on the Word we partake of His healing.

In her message, she shared her testimony about how God healed her of Asthma as a teenager. She mentioned that her faith was very little but began to grow as she learnt to study God’s Word in the area of healing. At this stage she spoke against the Asthma and it left. Pastor Trina explained that with continuous meditation those healing scriptures became part of her.

Later in life and diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, she did not panic but was at rest because she stood on God’s Word that  had been stored up in her spirit over the years on healing and this was the only thing she declared in the situation.

Within that same week, her husband, Mark spoke to the tumor according to Mark 11:23-24. Although she didn’t feel any different, she knew that she was healed. The next time she went for a medical checkup, the tumor was gone! The doctors could not find it anymore.

Don’t wait till you have a problem to get an answer.

Eating God’s word will sustain you in times of trouble.

The Holy Spirit will work with the Word you meditate on.

Healing is God’s will for us and anything else is a lie – Exodus 15:26. Psalm 107:20

Whenever we take the Word of God we should do it as we eat food and medicine, with our mouth. As with food and drugs we also take water, in the spirit, laughter is the equivalent of water. This means you should mix the Word of God that you are feeding on with laughing in the spirit.

Proverbs 4:20-22

The first thing you do with the medicine of the Word of God is make sure you pay attention to it. Secondly, make sure you incline your ears to hear the Word that you’re speaking out of your mouth. Let them not depart from your eyes – pay attention to the Word.

Take the Word like physical medicine i.e. you don’t stop taking your prescription until the dosage is completed. The Word of God is similar; you don’t stop even when it doesn’t seem to be working. You keep at it until your healing becomes evident just as you would with the prescribed medicine.

Psalm 103:3, Exodus 23:25, Deuteronomy 7:15, Mathew 8: 16

The Word of God in your mouth is exactly like the word of God in God’s mouth.

Galatians 3:13, Isaiah 53:4-5

Pastor Trina, emphasised the fact that healing is God’s will for everyone and that we need to ‘take’ our healing and ‘leave’ the sickness with God and not take it back. Jesus took all our diseases and infirmities and bore them. So if you have been redeemed from it, you don’t have to bear it any longer.

It’s not God’s will for anyone to be tormented or live in fear. There is healing for your emotions, your mind and your physical body.

1Peter 2:24, Malachi 4:2

God has sent His Word to you in the Bible, open it up and rejoice over the Word.

You need to activate your faith by looking to the Word of God, putting it in your mouth, eating it and meditating on the Word.

Pastor Trina rounded up her session by reminding the audience that the way to receive of the Lord was with thanksgiving. By saying THANK YOU LORD you receive from God.
