Day 1: Session 1 – Pastor ‘Poju Oyemade

As the host of the West Africa Faith Believers’ Convention, Pastor ‘Poju Oyemade gave the inaugural sermon for the 2014 edition. He shed some light on the background and the main thrust behind the gathering and also an overview of what’s to be expected in the next couple of days.

The morning sessions will be faith teachings, whilst the afternoon period will be ministry inclined for leadership and how to be an effective worker in the Lord’s vineyard. The evening sessions will be Holy Ghost services.

Acts 2:16 – 18

Pastor Oyemade said that while praying and seeking guidance for the format he was reminded once again about the three feasts observed by Israel i.e. the feast of the Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles. The New Testament equivalents of these feasts are getting born again and coming to the knowledge of Christ (Passover), the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost).

The essence of WAFBEC is the celebration of the feast of Tabernacles, where the Spirit takes us to increasing levels of glory in God. Through the workings of the Holy Ghost inside the believers’ heart we come to experience greater levels.

Pastor ‘Poju said the convention should be a period of divinely granted appearance and manifestations of God, as well as a time of transformation in the life of participants. Furthermore, he stated that the degree of knowledge of God’s Word that people see and pray is what they will see occur in their lives.

Ephesians 1: 7 – 18

The Holy Spirit’s assignment is that everything bought by the Blood of Jesus is made manifest and created inside the life of the believer. An expectation can be created by the Word without the knowledge of what to do in order to actualise it. The Spirit wants to work inside us to give us the ‘know-how’ for various situations in order that the expectations we get from the Word come to pass.
