WAFBEC 2018 – Day 5 (Evening Session 1) with Pastor Taffi Dollar

WAFBEC 2018 – Day 5 (Evening Session 1) with Pastor Taffi Dollar

BIBLICAL EQUALITY AND HEADSHIP

Day 5 at WAFBEC 2018, happened to be Dr. Creflo Dollar’s 56th birthday. Pastor Taffi expressed her gratitude to Pastor Poju and Toyin Oyemade as well as the church, for honouring her husband on his birthday.

She then reviewed yesterday’s topic REDEMPTION, explaining how God has created man and woman, and given them dominion over all creation but not over each other.

She said that the issue with a man ruling over a woman today, is a consequence of the sin committed in the garden of Eden. Gen. 1:26

She added that the redemptive work of Christ has made both man and woman equal in the presence of God. The body (male and female) has a lot of roles to execute on earth.

According to history, the woman’s role was defined on basis of domestic activities. Men’s role were defined by their ability to provide for their family while the woman made sure the family didn’t suffer domestic needs.

Women didn’t play leadership roles, based on the assumption that such roles belonged solely to men. However, Jesus has brought women into the ministry, and examples of such are the Samaritan woman, Mary, and Martha.

According to 1 Cor. 11:3, the word ‘head’ is used to describe the relationship Jesus has with the church, with him being the Head of the Church. We must understand that the scriptures, through Christ, see us as equals.

Jesus is the source of our life. Because of Jesus, we can experience eternal life from the moment we acknowledge him as our Saviour. Col. 1:18

Every part of the body operates, and is controlled by the head. Jesus is the head of the church. He is the Provider of life and growth to the church. Christ gives to the church all it needs to flourish. Col. 2:19

Pastor Taffi explained from 1 Cor. 11:3, that the woman came out of the man to be by his side. That the man is described as coming out of Christ, and Christ came out of God. Man is the source of the woman, and Christ is the source of the man.

Jesus being the head of the church is the source by which the church is nourished and develops. To be the head means to be a source of life. A source of nourishing that provides the ability for the body to be everything it’s meant to be. Eph. 1:21

Every part of the body receives its nourishment from the head. For the church to get its fullest potential, the woman needs to be involved in activities within the church. The woman ought to take up every role they are capable of handling. Eph. 4:16

“For the church to get its fullest potential, the woman needs to be involved in activities within the church.”

Finally, Pastor Taffi admonished the congregation, saying, “As Christ is pouring out his grace to the church in full abundance, the husband needs to grant full rights to his wife in abundance as well. Man is required to love his wife as his own body. As Christ is self-sacrificing to the church, the man needs to act the same to his wife.” Eph. 5:23

When we know what our purposes are, we will begin to work together and achieve greater results. Christ has come to show us, through his relationship with the church, the type of relationship man needs to cultivate with his wife. The wife also needs to continue to pray for, support and bless her husband.

“When we know what our purposes are, we will begin to work together and achieve greater results.”
