Faith For Healing – 26 Days to #WAFBEC2014

God has made provision for every area of our lives even before we came to know Him, but as we grow in the knowledge of truth and the revelation of His word of grace, we become better equipped to appropriate them for our benefit. Healing is one of the benefits of the salvation package and is an integral part of the gospel. How much of each aspect of salvation we’re able to experience is however dependent on how much we come to know and receive of what we have been freely given.

In 3 John 1:2, God assures us “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” It’s therefore clear that us being in a perfect state of health is God’s will and if for any reason we experience any type of sickness, if we present His word before Him, praying according to this known will, He will answer us and restore our health. The bible also tells us that we are healed by the stripes laid on Jesus (1 Peter 2:24; Isaiah 53:5). All sicknesses were placed upon Jesus and He took them to the cross. We need not bear them anymore but claim the victory He has secured for us by believing and confessing God’s Word concerning our health.

Having established that it is God’s will that we have health, we need to proceed with confidence to His Word and find as many of His promises on healing and confess these truths concerning our peculiar cases. Faith for healing rests upon the belief in the absolute truth of God’s Word and the continual confession of that truth irrespective of subsisting contrary evidence. It’s His word and His will for us to be whole, and faith in His word will always yield results. His word is life to those who find them, and health to their body (Proverbs 4:22).

The above said there may however be times when we need to be encouraged in our faith by other believers by agreeing with them in prayer for our health. If we similarly act in faith and in assurance that God’s Word cannot fail, we can ask other believers to pray for us and lay hands (James 5:14,16). In all, we have an assurance that the prayer of faith will save the sick (James 5:15).
