Day 6: Session 7 – Pastor Bill Winston

Dr Bill Winston’s first session at WAFBEC 2016 was the first evening session on the sixth day. The topic was titled From Faith to Faith.
Text: Roman 1:16 – 17

It’s imperative to note that everything about our lives must hang on faith – a working faith. Hence, if your faith has no proof, it is not real faith.

Jesus promised that there would be challenges and only those whose faith is real are going to stand strong when crises hit.

Events around the world attest to the fact that it is impossible to live successfully and victoriously through this world without faith. The world is becoming more complicated that even technology will find it hard to manage; intellectualism will not even be able to comprehend. Common diseases are becoming highly resistant to combat and strange ones are breaking out in different parts of the world at an alarming rate. Of a truth, faith will not be an option; it will be the only necessary way to live.

However, not only are we supposed to have faith, but we must move from faith to faith. Moving from faith to faith means perfecting faith at one phase and graduating from that phase to another.

Like two sides of a coin, in faith, you have believing and acting faith. One side is not complete without the other.

Romans 12:1-3 tells us that God is an Equal Opportunity Employer. He has given everyone the measure of faith. However, in the practice of faith, we operate at different levels depending on how we exercise ourselves in it. And for us to have an effective faith walk, we must understand that the Word of God is the only source of faith. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God. Our own words do not carry the desired effect. Circumstances do not obey us just for our words; they obey our faith exercised in God’s Word. (Mark 4:35 – 40).

Our inheritance is going to come from God’s Word!

We must note that it is not a daunting task. Like Jesus’ faith spoke to the storm and there was calm, like God’s faith spoke to the darkness and there was light, we all have the same faith to do extraordinary things. But you must be violent about it. Sometimes it takes violent faith to do extra-ordinary things.

We could imply from 1 Corinthians 10:13 that by faith, you will never face anything you cannot overcome. Tests only come, but not to stop you, to promote you. If you are in faith, God will show you the end from the beginning.

How to move from faith to faith

In moving from faith to faith, you start from where you are, not where someone else is. Believe God for the little things in your own life, and then move up gradually from there. It’s not a question of what resources you have or don’t have. In fact when the time comes for you to do big things, you won’t have the resources for it.

Begin by sowing the seed of the Word in the soil of your life which is your spirit man. Once sown, the state of your spirit man from time to time determines how or whether or not the Word will produce thirty-, sixty- or hundred-fold in your life. That is why you must walk in love, righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost so you don’t corrupt this soil. These virtues are spiritual nutrients that nurture your spirit man, thereby causing the word to grow in your life.

You must understand that everything the devil has is stolen. Everything on this earth has been given to God’s people and if you get up in the Spirit, you will see your name on it. However, faith is the currency that transfers ownership to you. The Bible says, “…according to your faith, be it unto you.”

Finally, realize the value of discipline and organization. God will supernaturally add to your life as you sufficiently organize to contain it. (John 6:5-13)

God bless you.
