Day 5: Session 1- Rev. Mark Hankins

Philemon vs 6

Our faith can become contagious by our acknowledgement of every good thing in Christ Jesus such that everyone who meets us will learn from us what it is to be ‘In Christ’.

‘In Christ’ is the signature of the gospel of Jesus and of the Apostle Paul. These two words lets the believer into everything God has.

Romans 1: 16 -17

The gospel contains supernatural power and its centre is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The gospel is such a supernatural message that the Holy Spirit comes in when it is preached and the angels gather to listen to it.

In the Lordship of Christ, we must ask for revelation knowledge (Ephesians 1: 16 -19). God gives us light that we may know the hope of His calling and the exceeding greatness of His power. The revelation of God belongs to every believer i.e. He has given the believer revelation in the power of His resurrection. At resurrection, the believer came into union with Christ.

Romans 6: 3 – 5

The baptism signifies the believer’s identification with Christ. The same power that is available in the events of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ is also available in the message of the gospel.

Everything Jesus did is credited to the account of the believer!

In Christ

‘In Christ’ means ‘In the Anointed One’. One of the best ways to study the Bible is to circle or write out the scriptures that say ‘In Christ’, ‘In Him’ and ‘In whom’. These describe the believer’s identity in Christ Jesus. Everything God did in Christ, He did for the believer, therefore through Christ, we can do all things. (Galatians 3: 13 – 14).

In Christ, we become new creations, a creation grafted to Christ (1 Corinthians 5:17). God put in Christ everything He wants the believer to be. Jesus Christ changed everything in the lives of men, gave eternal life and reconciled all men to God.

As believers, we are engrafted into Christ. In the engrafting process, there is a wounding. And Jesus was wounded for our transgressions. (Isaiah 53:5)

In conclusion, take the scriptures and make declarations of who you are in Christ Jesus. Even though the work of Jesus Christ during His death, burial and resurrection is a spiritual reality, the believer still has to dress himself up and put on the new man by renewing his mind and confessing who he is in Christ Jesus by meditating on the word of God and letting go of old attitudes

Ephesians 4: 23 – 24

For your faith to be effective, you must constantly declare who you are in Christ Jesus(1 Peter 2: 9).
