DAY 5: Morning Session 2 with Dr Mensa Otabil

DAY 5: Morning Session 2 with Dr Mensa Otabil

Dr Mensah categorically told us to pay attention to this message. He spoke about offerings in the bible. He explained that there were freewill offerings and demanded offerings. He read the encounter between Abraham and God in Genesis 15, and also the first record of a demanded offering – Abraham asked God for proof of His promise to make him a father of many nations and God used His creation as proof. He asked Abraham to look to the sky and count the stars

Dr Mensah explained that within the vast darkness there is light. He encouraged everyone to keep their eyes on the light, just like Abraham, who believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness.

He went further to teach that there are times when God will demand a specific offering. Dr Mensah encouraged us to get used to it. He said that when Abraham gave the demanded offering, God cut a covenant with him. He then added that there are offerings which God will demand which are for now and some for generations yet unborn.

He said, “In Exodus 12 many years after Abraham died, although they no longer served God, He (God) had to keep His promise and deliver them. God, when he was going to fulfill the promise demanded an offering and no one that was to be delivered was exempted. It took a demanded offering to cut the covenant. It took a demanded offering to fulfill the promise of deliverance. He demanded an offering to bring them into the promised land.”

He admonished the congregation as he closed his sermon. He said, “The promises of God does not die with a man. God watches over his word to perform it even for generations after you. When God demands an offering, obey him because every demanded offering comes with a covenant that endures through all ages.”
